Artist: Bill Bell
The Artist
A native of Philadelphia, Bill Bell is a completely self-taught artist who took up painting full-time in 1982 after a successful career as a musician and record company executive.
Bill describes his painting as a compulsion; "it is also my fun, theraphy, and my challenge". Working in brillant acrylics he creates richly detailed and visually complex scenes based on memories and impressions of people, pets, events and dreams that have shaped his life. His unique and enchanting designs have been reproduced as prints, posters, greeting cards, T-shirts, jigsaw puzzles and collectors' plates.
Bill likes to emphasis the activities of people and animals in sometimes absurd situations. He says he paints "nostalgia and nonsense", and his paintings are always brimming with the joy that he finds in his own life.
The Painting
The unmistakable skyline is the backdrop for the collage of everything that makes London one of the greatest cities of the world.
