Description:  

      The discovery of mineral springs in 1571 beckoned early visitors to Harrogate.  In Victorian times, this North Yorkshire town was a fasionable spa destination for England's elite and average traveler alike, both of whom sought Harrogate's soothing waters.  Later travelers were attracted to the town's picturesque architecture and beautiful parks and gardens.

     English poster designer Kenneth Steel (1906-1970), a prolific, lithographer , and engraver as well,, produced this poster for British Railways in 1953.  It if fro the collection of the National Railway Museum, York.
