<Description on box>
Charley Harper (American, 1922-2007) designed more than fifty posters for various natural areas, parks, and conservation organizations, each colorful work celebrating a special part of our natural world in his unmistakeable and vibrant style. When asked to describe this style, Harper responded: "I regards the picture as an ecosystem in which all the elements are interrelated, interdependent, perfectly balanced, without trimming or unutilized parts; ... in a word of chaos, the picture is one small rectangle in which the artist can create an ordered universe." Harper's distictive use of simple geometric shapes, patterns, and vivid colors succinctly captures the essence of each creature he portrays.
